What is AbedulAg+ ?

大理石の表面

When considering FDA certification, the following characteristics are believed to be necessary for antimicrobial agents:

1. No environmental burden.

  2. Sustained antimicrobial effectiveness of 99.99%.

  3. No issues with biocompatibility (cytotoxicity, sensitization, skin irritation).

  4. The active species are not new substances (if it's a new substance, EPA verification is required).

  5. No nanoparticle issues (risk assessment required)

 6. Clinical verification is required.

"AbedulAg+" has no environmental impact as it is a non-leaching type, and when processed into fibers, it has a sterilizing effect of 99.9% even after 300 washes. Therefore, it is extremely unique that there is no need for reprocessing. In terms of biocompatibility, it has been confirmed that there is no cytotoxicity. What is particularly important is that the active species used is silver ion, which has already been approved as a precedent by the EPA and FDA.

●Verification of continuous sterilization properties

There is no definite standard for confirming the continuity of the bactericidal effect. For this reason, for convenience, we decided to show the continuity of the bactericidal effect by checking the bactericidal effect depending on the number of times the textile processed product is washed. It is said that the so-called "antibacterial fibers" that use synthetic chemical bactericides, which are usually distributed in large quantities, lose their bactericidal effect after 20 to 30 washes.

●Standard Washing Method

・Washing method for SEK mark textile products
・Document number JEC 326
・General Incorporated Association Textile Evaluation Technology Council Product Certification Department.

The scope of application includes general-purpose antibacterial and deodorizing processing, antibacterial processing, photocatalytic antibacterial processing, antifungal processing, antiviral processing, deodorizing processing, photocatalytic deodorizing processing, stain-resistant processing, and ultraviolet shielding processing.

1. Washing machine used
Use a fully automatic washing machine conforming to the C-type standard washing machine - vertical shaft, top loading type (pulsator type) specified in the equipment and materials of JIS L 1930 (Home washing test method for textile products). The washing machine used for this washing test must not be used to wash textile products that have been processed other than those mentioned above.

2 Detergent to be used:
Use "JAFET standard detergent" (a blend of polyoxyethylene alkyl ether and sodium alpha olefin sulfonate). Note: Do not use the standard detergent specified in JIS L1930.

3 Loading cloth
(1) Use a type III polyester loading cloth as specified in Appendix H of JISL 1930 (Home washing test method for textile products). However, do not use a loading cloth that has been used to wash textile products that have been processed in any other way than as described above.
(2) If the loading cloth is to be used repeatedly, boil it and rinse thoroughly after each use.

4 Adjustment of washing machine power
When using a fully automatic washing machine that conforms to the C-type standard washing machine - vertical axis, top loading type (pulsator type), adjust the washing conditions of the washing machine to match washing method C4G specified in JIS L 1930 Appendix F.
(Note 1) It has been confirmed that the average washing machine power during one wash using washing method C4G specified in JIS L 1930 (Home washing test method for textile products) corresponds to this value.

5. Measurement method of washing machine power using WAT cloth.
Measurement of washing machine power using WAT cloth shall be performed in accordance with the washing machine power test method using WAT cloth in Appendix A (reference) of JIS L 1929 "Test cloth for measuring washing machine power (WAT cloth)". However, when adjusting washing machine power as described in 2.4, the washing machine power shall be measured under washing conditions where the liquor ratio, etc. are adjusted.

6 Washing method
(1) Washing is performed under the washing conditions adjusted by the washing machine power in 2.4.
(2) The detergent to be used shall be "JAFET standard blend detergent", and 40ml of "JAFET standard blend detergent" shall be added to 30L of water (Note 1) to make the washing liquid.
(3) The number of washes shall be repeated so that it corresponds to the number of washes for the corresponding certification mark and product category in Appendix 1 of the SEK Mark Textile Product Certification Standards, or the number of washes applied for.
(Note 1) The water used may be tap water, well water, or industrial water.

7 Drying Method
(1) Dry after repeated washing.
(2) As a rule, dry by hanging or laying flat out in a place that is not exposed to direct sunlight, but a dryer or other device may be used.
(3) If a dryer is used, do not mix with textile products that have been processed other than those mentioned above.
(4) Drying temperature should be below 80°C.

● Features

・It is possible to make a paint-like solution and easily form a film on the surface of anything.

・When processed into textiles, it has an antibacterial function of 99.9% (3Log) continuously.

・Since the antibacterial effect is continuous, resistant bacteria are unlikely to emerge.

・When processed into textiles, it can withstand more than 300 washes and does not require

 reprocessing.

・Low-priced mass production of sewn textile products and roll fabrics is possible.

・Safe, without the problems of biocompatibility (cytotoxicity, skin irritation, sensitization).

・Ag ions are fixed to titanium dioxide at a high concentration, there is no re-eluting, and there is

 almost no environmental load.

・There is no problem of environmental toxicity due to nanosilver.

・Unlike elution-type antibacterial agents, an antibacterial effect is generated on the contact surface

even if it does not dissolve in water.

・The antibacterial active species is Ag ion, which has been approved by the FDA for its safety and

 effect.

・There is no discoloration when textiles are processed.  Any final dye coloring is possible.

● Safety of silver ion, which is an active species

  1. On June 10, 2009, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published rules on silver residue standards in foods. When a solution containing silver ions is used as a disinfectant on the food contact surface in food and beverage facilities, dairy products and food processing facilities, the final content of silver ions in the final product treated with the solution must not exceed 50 ppm. If so, it is decided to exempt the setting of the residual standard of silver in food.

  2. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allows up to 100 ppb of silver ions in drinking water.

● Paint provides versatility and low cost.

It is said that approximately 80% of infectious diseases are caused by the spread of bacteria through contact. Transmission is thought to be primarily due to hand contact.

Therefore, it is considered an effective countermeasure to con tinuously sterilize germs in areas that are touched by hands, in combination with strict hand washing, and to interrupt the spread of the virus. The versatile coating that can be easily applied to the surface of many commercial materials is a very im portant factor in reducing the risk of infectious diseases. As a representative example of such applications, we have positioned textiles, which are widely used in our daily lives and pose a high risk of infection.

Silver ions have been used as a disinfectant for a long time, and their safety has been confirmed by the U.S. FDA. However, be cause it is water-based, its effects are temporary, and it is expensive because it is made of precious metals.

"AbedulAg+" has a non-elution material design, so its main feature is that it can be used continuously, resulting in low prices.

●External evaluation of antibacterial effect based on number of washes
